STORM DAMAGE

Storm damage repairs across Northwest Arkansas

Hail, wind, heavy rain and falling limbs. We cover the exposed roof first, then document what the storm did and repair it with our own crew.

Chapter 01

What a Northwest Arkansas storm does to a roof

Hail is the one most homeowners hear about, and it does two kinds of harm. It can punch clean through shingles, and it can bruise them, leaving the granule surface crushed and the mat underneath cracked while the roof still looks mostly fine from the driveway. Bruised shingles tend to fail a season or two later, which is how a roof that seemed to survive the storm ends up leaking in the spring.

High wind does a different kind of damage. It lifts shingle tabs, breaks the seal strip that holds them down, and sometimes peels back whole sections along the edges and ridge. Heavy rain finds whatever the wind exposed. Falling limbs and flying debris add punctures and cracked flashing, and in a hard winter, ice dams back meltwater up under the shingles at the eaves.

None of these announce themselves loudly. A stain on a bedroom ceiling a week after the storm is often the first sign, by which point the decking underneath has been wet more than once.

Four steps, in the order that protects your house

Step one is temporary protection. If the roof is open to the weather, the first job is tarping the exposed areas so the next rain stays outside. That comes before any estimate or any paperwork, because water damage inside the house costs more than anything on the roof.

Step two is a detailed damage assessment. Your Superior Roofing Project Manager goes over the roof, photographs what they find, and then walks you through every photo so you see what they see. Step three is insurance claims assistance: we talk you through filing, and we meet the adjuster. Step four is full-scale repairs, done by our own crew, not subcontractors you have never met.

The details of how we handle the claim side are on our roof insurance claims page, linked below.

Chapter 03

Why you should not wait on an inspection

Heat and ultraviolet light keep working on materials that a storm has already weakened. A shingle with a cracked mat or a lifted seal ages faster in a Springdale summer than an undamaged one, so the damage you could have documented in the first week gets harder to separate from ordinary wear later on.

If a storm has come through Bentonville, Rogers, Fayetteville or anywhere else we work, call (479) 684-6060 during office hours, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and ask for a roof inspection. We will tell you what we find, including when the answer is that you do not need anything done.

Most storm jobs run through an insurance claim, and how that works is its own subject. Read how we handle the paperwork on roof insurance claims, or find out what is leaking right now on our emergency roof repairs page.
